5.2. 车牌定位
车牌的定位是车牌识别中最关键的一步，定位的精确与否直接影响了后续的信息采集，也是整个系统成败的关键。
目前，车牌识别主要有两种：
a. 基于灰度图像的车牌识别：
优点：The method based on gray image, processing speed quickly;
由于灰度图像是单通道的，也就是说每个像素点位（0，255），只有一个采样颜色，0代表黑色，255代表白色，占用的存储空间相对同一类型彩色图像来说，较小。 因而，计算时间缩短，从而处理速度相对较快；
缺点： but it ignores the color feature of license plate, when the plate edge of the region extremely rich, it have uneven illumination and have high error rate.
基于人眼的视觉识别，色彩是作为关键信息的。也就是说，当我们寻找车牌时，首先是基于颜色的。由于灰度图像处理忽视的颜色，在复杂背景下进行车牌识别时，会产生很多的干扰轮廓，这对于车牌的识别，容易出现识别错误。
b. 基于彩色图像的车牌识别：
优点：the method based on color image processing, by full use of the color feature of the license plate, consistenting with people's color perception;
缺点：but the three-dimensional color image processing speed slowly, when the body color closed to the license plate or faded, the recognition rate will decreased, it will need to add
conditions to achieve the precise discrimination positioning.
